For Residents

For Students Living On Campus

All students living on campus are required to be on a meal plan. Each on-campus student is initially enrolled in a Resident 19 meal plan at the beginning of the fall semester. The Resident 19 plan entitles students to every meal that is served in Kline Commons each week.

There are two different types of meal plans:

Our Traditional Resident plans give each resident a certain number of meals each week at Kline Commons, plus a cache of “Bard Bucks” to spend throughout the semester at the Green Onion Grocer, Down the Road Café and Manor Café. The weekly meal total resets each Friday, and unused meals do not roll over to the next week.

Our Block plans are designed to give maximum flexibility to upperclassmen. In addition to their Bard Bucks, residents on a block plan are given a “block” of meals to spend however they choose throughout the entire semester. In addition to dining at Kline Commons, students on the Block plan may exchange their meal for a “Meal Swap” and dine at Down the Road Café or Manor Café. In a meal swap, students are given a certain amount of points to build a meal using food items that are assigned various point values. Students on a Block plan may use up to 4 meals a day on weekdays and up to 3 meals a day on weekends. Only one meal can be used per meal period (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and/or Late Night at Down the Road Café until close).

All Freshman are required to be on the Resident 19 meal plan for the duration of their first semester.  In the spring they have the option to change to the 265 block plan if they wish. Upperclassmen have the ability to change their meal plan during the first 2 weeks of the semester. Meal plan options for upperclassmen include the 14 meal plan, the 265 block plan, and the 175 block plan.

Upperclassmen living in Village suites, the Tree houses, Sands House or Brooks house also have the option of choosing a Resident 10 or Block 65 meal plan, as each of these dorms is equipped with kitchen facilities for every six residents. These special meal plans give the students more Bard Bucks to spend on groceries for home-made meals. Each student’s residence is verified by the Office of Residence Life before the change is made.

Details of our meal plan options are listed below. For more information check out the Meal Plan FAQ, under the Meal Plan tab.
