Ben Southard

Resident District Manager Ben grew up in Harrisonburg, VA and earned a Bachelor of Science at James Madison University (1989) and an Associates Degree in Occupational Studies/ Culinary Arts from New England Culinary Institute (1994). Ben is member of the American Culinary Federation and National Restaurant Association. He is a Certified Executive Chef (2000), Certified Culinary Administrator (2005) and Certified Foodservice Management Professional (FMP) (2005) Ben was the winner of the National NACUFS Culinary Challenge 2003 and was former Chef of Massanutten Resort, Joshua Wilton House Inn, Roanoke Country Club and Radford University. He has worked in kitchens in Colorado, Vermont and all over the Outer Banks and is currently living in Radford, VA. with wife (Tami) and son (Sklyar), In addition to his current job, Ben is an adjunct instructor here a RU and at Virginia Western Community College teaching Culinary Arts. |

Bill Bremer

Director of Operations Bill grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA and attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. He has been in the food service business for 18 years, and for the last 15 years, Bill has worked exclusively in contract food management, at 10 colleges and universities. During that time, he has lived in West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Maryland, South Carolina, and Virginia. Bill was recently married, in the summer of 2007 and enjoys playing golf in his free time. |

Mark Tyler

Resident Dining Director - Dalton *Dalton Dining Hall Mark Tyler graduated from Virginia Tech 1978, majoring in History and Political Science. He has served as a Unit Manager, Regional Supervisor and Director of Training for Northeast Restaurants, Inc. (Pizza Inn). He began working with Radford University as Food Court Manager in 1991, Food Management Professional certification achieved in March 1998 and Serve Safe certified by the National Restaurant Association. |

Adrean Harris

Resident Dining Director - Bonnie Foodcourt Adrean obtained his Food Management Professional certification in 2004 and has a foundation of over 13 years of food service experience and management. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Bluefield College and moved to the New River Valley in 1999 where he managed the Chick-Fil-A here on Campus. He joined the Chartwells team as the Director of Dalton Hall in 2002. |

Marketing Director Kim graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design in 2007. She has been in food service for two years and joined Radford University in 2008 as the Marketing Director. |

Catering Director *New River Grille House Mary Beth is originally from Big Stone Gap, VA and received her bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management from Concord University. She has been in the food service industry for 11 years. |

Executive Chef - Dalton Dining Hall *Dalton Dining Hall Chef Mann began his culinary career washing dishes at a friend's restaurant at age 11, and by the time he left he was the head cook. His passion for good food led him to attend Newberry Culinary School. He is a member of the American Culinary Federation and is a Certified Sous Chef. Chef Brain has received a first place award and a Silver Culinary Federation medal from The National Association of College and University Food Services Mid Atlantic Conference Culinary Challenge. |

Chef - Dalton Dining Hall *Dalton Dining Hall Chef Edmunds is a graduate from the Culinary Institute of America with experience working as executive chef at various hotels and four star restaurants. Gary has also had several recipes published in Bon Appetite. He has been in the food service industry for 30 years, 20 of which was in college food service. |

Catering *New River Grille House Virginia has moved around a lot due to her dad serving in the military but she originally comes from Norwood, NC. She graduated from Johnson & Wales with two degrees, an Associate in Culinary Arts and a Bachelor in Culinary Nutrition. Virginia has been in food service for 8 years and also enjoys cooking, swimming and traveling. |
