Project Clean Plate
helps reduce food waste in the main dining halls and creates awareness among students. Food waste is monitored at the disposal area results educate students about how much wasted food is thrown out on a daily basis which could be prevented.

Trim Trax is a food waste reduction program that is used to track, measure and reduce the amount of kitchen food waste in our facilities on campuses. It is designed to increase operational efficiencies and create awareness about reducing food waste and its environmental impact. This program has been extremely successful to date and is used on all campuses where Chartwells provides food service.

Sustainable Initiatives

RU Dining Sustainability Commitment

With education as the primary focus of our business activity, RU Dining Services is committed to fostering and promoting sustainable business principles to our clients and customers. Our associates will lead by example through activities that minimize our impact on the environment by practicing the 3Rs, with a primary focus on reduction. Our programs will include the necessary information to encourage informed choices on both the food we conserve, and the ways we interact with the natural environment. Charitable donations, funding scholarship and bursaries, and active volunteerism by our associate are just some of the ways that RU Dining re-invests in our communities.

Our sustainability initiatives focus on four key areas:
