Welcome to Chartwells at San Francisco State University!

Welcome to Fall 2009!  Now that your new life here at San Francisco State University has begun we're looking forward to being a part of your home away from home.  It seems that the world is changing and it calls for all of us to work collectively to become a completely "green and sustainable" community.  Chartwells and University Housing are currently working together to reduce our carbon footprint and our overall impact on the earth.  It our goal to reuse, recycle, and reduce where ever possible.

• We have become a trayless dining center to help reduce food waste, reduce energy waste, and reduce waist lines.
• We have pledged to use environmentally friendly food and disposable products where ever possible.
• We have made it our policy to use only seafood that is determined sustainable by the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
• We continue to be a cage-free egg facility.
• We continue to use fair trade coffee in our facilities.

Our dining program at San Francisco State University is a dynamic and constantly-evolving program.  We're never content to rest on our laurels, even though we've been named Regional Account of the Year in 2004 and 2005 and National Account of the Year in 2005!  We strive to always do better than we did "last year".  To that end we believe in the constant improvement method and are always looking out for new ideas, recipes, menu items, etc.  We work hard every day to make the experiences of our customers unique and different while still remaining true to the core values of Chartwells and Compass Group.
