Chase N. Peterson Heritage Center

Heritage Commons, including 29 state-of-the-art residence halls was built to house athletes participating in the 2002 Winter Olympics hosted by Salt Lake City. Today, more than 2,000 students live in these on-campus residences, and the Peterson Heritage Center is the hub of this section of campus. It's where students living on campus go to hang out in the building's comfy lounges, receive free tutoring, get their mail, play pool, rent movies, study, and most of all, where they come to eat.

Where to eat in the PHC

This all-you-care-to-eat dining hall is open seven days a week and is where students with meal plans eat the majority of their meals while in school. However, anyone can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner here by conveniently paying at the entrance. It features a rotating menu and the largest variety of food options on campus, including a vegan and vegetarian section, a custom-order grill, a salad bar, sandwich station, Belgian waffle station, and an exhibition station that is used for cooking demonstrations, made-to-order meals, and more. Additionally, the PHC Dining Hall hosts events and programs several times each month, including the largest Mardi Gras celebration on campus every February.

J. Willard Marriott Library

The Marriott Library houses hundreds of computers, dozens of classrooms and study rooms, and holds more than 3 million volumes. It's no wonder the Marriott Library is one of the most popular spots on campus. And Mom's Café, located on the first floor, provides nourishment for studying students and is open later than most other dining locations on campus.

Where to eat in the Library

Mom's Café is affectionately named after a homegrown restaurant started by Myrtle Lee Fulton in Mesa, Arizona. Myrtle's restaurant started as a simple hamburger stand in her front yard in the early 1900s. "Mom's Café" soon blossomed into a full-fledged restaurant, and her son Ira helped as bus boy, dishwasher, and even grill cook. In recognition of a generous gift given by Ira Fulton and his wife Mary Lou, the library now has its own Mom's Café.

Located on level 1 of the Marriott Library, Mom's Café is open seven days a week and has extra late hours during finals. In addition to prepackaged snacks, salads, sandwiches, and bottled beverages, Mom's Café also serves hot breakfast items, pastries made on campus by our pastry chef, fresh-baked Freschetta pizzas, and local, Rimini coffee. It also offers a full specialty drink menu (lattes, mochas, etc.)
